A modern temple of track and field

The recently built Stade Roi Baudouin in Bruxelles is one of the most beautiful venues in the world for track and field. Each year the famous and extremely popular Memorial Van Damme commemorates the untimely death in 1976 of 800 m runner and Olympic silver medal winner Ivo Van Damme, whose Belgian national 800 m record stands to this day.

The memorial has witnessed numerous fast races, and it is no surprise the meeting record (set by who else than Wilson Kipketer) of 1.42.20 is surpassed by few.
